Glowing

One of my favorite parts of this holiday season, is when the pumpkins get lit up and they glow in the night!

I love what Gary did with his pumpkin!  It's a burning scarecrow, but the heart is actually a face of a phantom.  Quite spooky... and it looks great!

And I actually like mine much better now that it has a candle in it.  It looks moree like what it is supposed to - a hand coming out of a grave.  Spooky!

Silly Pumpkins...

Today we had a "Fall" day.  We made a big pot of brunswick stew, made two kinds of cornbread (the sweet kind and the ::real:: kind), sipped on fruity Italian sodas, and carved pumpkins!  It was super, and the weather was perfect!!  Sunny with a high in the 50s... mmmm... fall goodness!  And we had such a good time!  The food was muy bueno, and we had so much fun carving pumpkins, and then had a photoshoot.  We went crazy of course...  ;)  Before long, the pumpkins became makeshift baby bumps, and the three girls all looked 8 months pregnant.  lol.

I'm looking forward to the time when we all really are pregos.
But for now, we are making memories and laughing a lot along the way!

Scanned Ghosts

I have to imagine that if you were to capture ghosts, and then photocopy them, the result would be something like this... dark outlines and all.  :)

I love the way this turned out!

Kevin Bacon

The letter Z, or kitchen rugs?

Today was good!
Yesterday I made a Halloween costume for Gary... they were dressing up today for his work, instead of Monday, and he had a wish to be a piece of bacon.
Yup, a piece of bacon (it's a mild obsession...  lol)
And so I was off to work!  It was made out of maroon, light pink, and cream fleece in various wavies, sew together, pieced to a back maroon piece, given a spot for the head and arms, and voila, a piece of bacon costume!  What made it even better though was when we had the idea to add a nametag saying "Hello.  My name is Kevin".
Kevin Bacon!  I thought it was pretty clever, if I do say so myself...  :)

But anywho, today I was in more of a crafting mood, so I set off to finish my Halloween costume.  It's not super complicated, but there were a few alterations and accoutrements that needed to happen, and I got them done!  So proud!  I like it, and I'm excited to wear it on Monday!  But Monday is just the beginning!  We're having "Spirit Week" at work next week, and I basically need a costume for 3 days.  Monday is done!  Tuesday (Zombie Day) is still up in the air.  I have a piece of fabric and a makeup idea, and I figure that I can wing it with big, crazy hair, and throw it all together, especially with shades of gray, black, and white, and that it will be zombie-ish enough to pass off fine!  And then Thursday is Tacky Day... I've totally got this down.  Some days, I dress tacky enough as is (I tend to make up color combinations and tell myself that they work together...) so I figure I'll just kick it up a notch.  :p  I'm looking forward to it though!  It's super fun!

Tomorrow I want to watch movies (preferably of the spooky in nature), and work on more projects, being that there are a few that I need to work on.  I must I must I must!  So, here's to hoping that tomorrow is productive as well!

Happy Halloween Weekend!  :)
Adieu!

What is it?

Looking at this, I see the ocean, or maybe the under-ground ebb and flows of the ocean floor.  Definitely a far cry from what it really is, but what can I say?  I love the shades, the waves, and the starkness of the black and white.

Sleepy

Pickles was so cold this morning that she actually cuddled.
I was shocked, and flattered.  lol.
Usually she will get on you and lay there for a few minutes, but today, she actually got between me and my arm, rested her head on my arm, and went to sleep.
For about 20 minutes, and then she was off.

It was so cute!!

Murder Mystery Dinner Show

In a nutshell...
The foreigner shot the Mobster.
The son shot the widow, and the foreigner.
The kids found the key to the locker.
And they went to find the money.
The FBI agent wasn't what she seemed,
and neither was the Minister.

Moody

The weather was moody today.
It couldn't decide what it wanted to be.
It would cloud up, shoot out rays of sun, and then thrown little tantrums where it poured for a few minutes.  And it cycled like this all day.
And I even think I saw one flash of lightning...
It certainly wasn't the day of storms that I was expecting.
But then again, it wasn't the typical "fall" day either.
It was moody.

-----

And here's the song that I am obsessed with at the moment.
It has urgency, and it speaks to me.  :)
I heard it one time on the radio last weekend, and it seriously could not leave my mind.  I had the melody revolving through my head for days, so I downloaded it.  And love it!!
It's one of those hauntingly beautiful that you can hum along to, and it sounds great.
"Paradise" by Coldplay.

In the night, the stormy night,

She'd close her eyes
In the night, the stormy night,
Away she'd fly

And dreams of para- para- paradise
Para- para-paradise
Para- para-paradise

Ohoohoooh

Curtains for Play

What are curtains except for pieces of fabric hanging from the wall for cats to play with??
Oh, and the protection from the outside, just in case the door is open.
And a veil... which, on a male cat, looks fabulous!

Yes, Cornbread uses the curtain for all of these things.  He plays hide-n-seek with whatever else is on the other side.  He peeks out from underneath the curtain whenever the door is open and wears the curtain like a veil, and then just watches.  He's so precious.

Dressed Noodles

In an effort to come up with another side option, I found an image (on Pinterest) of some dressed noodles.  They used spaghetti noodles and tossed them with olive oil, garlic bread crumbs, and parsley.  I thought it sounded good, so I decided to try it tonight.  We used angel hair pasta, broken in half.  Once cooked and drained, we tossed the noodles in olive oil, plain bread crumbs, garlic powder, and some lemon juice.  They turned out great!  Very tasty, super easy, and a nice (and light) side dish to add to our repertoire!  Along with the dressed noodles, we had roasted turkey legs, and peas - the ones with pearl onions and mushrooms.  Such a good meal!  Healthy, tasty, and something different.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Wednesday Night Dinner

I'd like to thank Pinterest for the inspiration for tonight's dinner...
I was looking for something fast, easy, and different.
And a few days ago, I stumbled across this and it stuck.

Homemade Pizza Rolls, served with a salad and some watermelon.

Take a package of crescent rolls, separate the triangles, top the widest part with 4 slices of pepperoni and then top with half a stick of string cheese (mozzarella).  Roll up and bake according to the directions on the crescent roll package.

Serve with a salad and some fruit, and some marinara sauce for dipping, and you have a meal!
Yumm!

Happy eatings!

Lights

I feel like I've been taking a lot of pictures of lights lately.  I don't know what exactly it is about them that I am drawn to, or why I am trying to "capture" them, but I've been looking up a lot here lately.  Maybe it's symbolic of the actual act of looking up, or maybe it's an analogy for prayer, or maybe it's a subconscious need to shed light on something, lights have been in the forefront of my picture-takings.  And it's not just lights mind you, but candles, glowing things, lamp shades, bulbs, and etc...  And I'm not quite sure if it is my camera getting ready to go on the fritz, or what, but there has been an abundance of halos around all of the lights.  It's interesting.

And I don't even think it's about me running out of things to talk about...  lol.  I seriously almost feel like there is some higher power that is trying to tell me something.  But what?

-----

I'm on hospital time these days.  Time flies fast than a speeding bullet, and escapes to anywhere else than where it is needed.  That's how people lose it... time that is.  It escapes.  By some lucky twist of fate, my time-off this week was pre-ordained.  I've been planning a week off for about a month now.  It is supposed to be time for me to get organized, straighten-up, do laundry, and get focused.  I am going to take advantage of my down-time with some much needed "me' time, and so some crafting, or watch some of my favorite movies, and sleep late.  But it seems there might be other powers at work.  Luckily, I can be there for her when she needs someone to be there with her.  A little creative re-arranging is all that needs to happen, is all.  And I'm sure everything will work out, in all matters that that statement needs to be applied, everything will work out.

Happy Monday!
